The 120 year old Sikh  Institute  Khalsa College has been converting into a private university. To stop the process of converting Khalsa College into a private university , t5he teaching and no teaching staff of college started the agitation against the decision of college management and principal of the college. Agitators employees of the college staged a protest rally outside the principal office and have not allowed the principal to  came out from his office. Agitators lauded the slogans against Management and college principal. Students of the college also supported the agitation of the employees. Congress party leaders also came back on the agitator employees. Agitators also blocked the principal in his office more than 4 hours.

Other side GNDU also accepted the disaffiliation letter of the college management committee in which college demanded that from the next session college has not conducting the admissions of BA part 1 classes un the affiliations of the GBDU courses.

Prof SS Rangi the leaders of agitator teachers said we totally reject the proposal of making private university to close the college. If management wants to start university then it can start at another place. We can not allow the management to start university, to close the college. Management has not took any meeting about the above decision, with the employees.  Khalsa college has a great history from the independence movement to till today. College has got about 9 cr. grant from the government

 Every year , but management has not sincere to tell the future of the employees and the future of government grant.

Other side Dr Daljit Sing the principal of the college said, to convert the college into the Private university is a decision of college management committee, I can not comment on this issue. When connected with the RMS Chhina the  secretary of the college , this mobile phone was out of coverage area.

 

Congress party also came back on the agitators. Harpal Singh Bhatia the delegate of congress committee said the Majathia family has been trying to destroying the revolutionary history of the Khalsa College, people of the Amritsar can never allow the management to replace the college and make private university. In après conference Bhatia announced we will fully support the agitator employees of the college.

National Students Federation (NSF) state President Baljinder Singh Bind  said to make University is not a bad act, but to make university and close the college we can not  allow this act. Students of Amritsar are fully in support with the agitator employees. If private university will establish then the higher education will be costly, not the students of middle and poor class can took education from the private khalsa college university in future.

PC Sharam the national secretary and Satwinder Singh Judge the district president of Hindustan National Party (NSF) strongly criticize the decision of college management committee and called this decision ant student and ant employee.  They said many peoples of the Amritsar district privides the land to Khalsa college in gift and or in donation and as per lae college management committee has no powers and rights to use the land of the college for their self interests.
